Plant Prefab, Rialto, CA, the country's first prefabricated design and manufacturing company dedicated to sustainable construction, materials, processes and operations, recently announced a partnership with Alchemy Architects. Together, the companies unveiled the lightHouse LivingHomes, a line of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) available in five sizes.
Environmental stewardship has been a core focus for Alchemy since its inception, and the firm has always worked to incorporate the latest innovations in building science and materials, which aligns it well with Plant Prefab. Minnesota-based Alchemy led by Geoffrey C. Warner, AIA, joins the roster of acclaimed Plant Design Partners that includes Ray Kappe, KieranTimberlake, Koto Design, Yves Béhar and Brooks + Scarpa.
“There is an increasing demand among potential homeowners for smaller homes that can be built quickly and affordably, and the lightHouse LivingHomes were conceived to meet that need,” says Plant Prefab Founder and CEO Steve Glenn.“Since Alchemy has long been an expert in designing for prefabricated building methods and a pioneer in sustainable design, and we’ve already completed two projects together, it was easy for us to partner together to offer a set of unique, ultra-efficient, standard LivingHomes for the market.”
The new lightHouse LivingHomes line range from 310 sq ft to 600 sq ft, with various configurations. The units are designed to blend in with their surroundings and adapt to various climates, while meeting net-zero standards. Construction utilized Plant Prefab's Plant Building System (PBS).
