EV Manufacturer Rivian Announces Plans for $5-Billion Factory in Georgia

Rivian, an EV manufacturer that recently as award Motor Trends’ 2022 truck of the year for its R1T electric pickup, has selected a rural site east of Atlanta for its next factory in the United States. Reports in the business press said the facility will employ 7,500 and have an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles. The company also manufactures the R1S SUV and has a standing order with Amazon to manufacture 100,000 delivery vans. The Augusta Press and other news outlets offered details on the scope of the deal, which follows recent announcements by Ford and Toyota for new EV and battery plants in the United States. The company is currently manufacturing EVs at a plant in Normal, IL.
