Beacon Products light up Atlanta’s Georgia-Pacific Center

Jan. 6, 2014
The retrofit incorporated 60 Alpha LED flood lights. The new Beacon LED lighting dramatically cut energy consumption cost from approximately $55 to $14 a day. The installation has moved the Georgia-Pacific Center significantly closer to its goal of reducing energy consumption by 20% by 2020.

An iconic fixture in Atlanta’s skyline, the Georgia-Pacific building had gone dark for nearly seven years at night because its lighting system was energy inefficient.  That is no longer the case thanks to Beacon Products, a division of Hubbell Lighting.

Beacon Products replaced the building’s inefficient 1,000W and 400W metal-halide bulbs with modern, efficient Beacon Products Alpha LED Floods. The retrofit incorporated 60 Alpha LED flood lights, including 8 ALU-36NB-90W-6x6, 22 ALU-60NB-136W-6x6, 27 ALU-72NB-220W-2x2, and 3 ALU-72NB-170W-5x5.

With the retrofit, Beacon Products was able to reduce the installed wattage from 64,800W to 10,162W—the aforementioned 75% reduction in energy consumption. The new Beacon LED lighting dramatically cut energy consumption cost from approximately $55 to $14 a day.The installation has moved the Georgia-Pacific Center, a LEED® Silver certified building, significantly closer to its goal of reducing energy consumption by 20% by 2020.
