The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) recently announced their 18th annual Lighting R&D Workshop, taking place from February 1-4, 2021. This free virtual event will bring together lighting scientists and industry thought leaders to share progress, challenges, ideas, and solutions to shape the future of lighting.
Recent events have changed how people live and work, with potentially profound and long-lasting impacts. According to the IES, lighting technology is already in the midst of a monumental shift to solid-state sources, a shift that continues to redefine lighting and related energy savings and open new doors to improved understanding of how light affects human well-being and what functions and services lighting can provide. At the same time, digitalization is driving change throughout the built environment, impacting every phase from initial design through operation and maintenance and everything from devices to buildings to cities.
The event will include interactive expert panel discussions; a poster session; topic table sessions; networking sessions; and more. A preliminary agenda and registration information will be released soon.
