Grainger reports November 2013 sales results

Dec. 17, 2013
The November sales dropped a bit year-over-year because last year Grainger was busy servicing post-hurricane reconstruction.

W.W. Grainger Inc., Lake Forest, Ill., said its daily November sales increased 5% versus Nov. 2012.  Results for the month included 4 percentage points from acquisitions and a 2% decline from unfavorable foreign exchange.  Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic daily sales increased 3% driven by 6 percentage points of volume growth, partially offset by a 2% decline from sales of hurricane-related products in Nov. 2012 and a 1% decline from price.  In 4Q 2012, Grainger provided hurricane-related products for the preparation for and response to Hurricane Sandy in the northeast United States.
