The Fourth Annual Charity Week at Allied Wire & Cable, Collegeville, Pa., last December exceeded the company's expectations and raised over $9,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Allied annually sets aside a portion of its sales for a full week in December to donate to its charity of choice. This year's benefactor was chosen by Allied's customers in a month-long poll held on the company's website. Allied has supported Make-A-Wish for several years, including previous charity weeks, and was excited to have the opportunity to do so again, the company said.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation aims to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The average wish can cost more than $7,000. Allied raised a total of $9,223.31, which will be split between Make-A-Wish and the other charities featured in the vote. Dennis Heron, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley, and Karen Traten, its director of development, visited Allied on Jan. 5 and picked up a check for $7,727.31.

The remaining $1,500 will be donated to the other charities, each receiving a $250 donation. These charities include: American Farmland Trust, ASPCA, Autism Speaks, Coalition to Support America's Heroes, Meals on Wheels Association of America and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
