Legion Field in Bridgewater, Mass., is now equipped with a state-of-the-art sports lighting system, making evening sporting events a new reality for the community's youth football field. As the winner of the 2007 Friday Night Lights Contest, the town won the new lighting system courtesy of NorthEast-Eagle Electrical Distributors, a Canton, Mass.-based subsidiary of Sonepar USA, and Sports Radio 850 WEEI-AM.

“It's tremendous to be able to have such a positive impact on a local community and to help encourage healthy, outside activity,” said Don Block, CEO of NorthEast-Eagle Electrical Distributors. “It was thrilling to see the joy on the players' and parents' faces when the lights came on. We look forward to bringing lights to even more communities in years to come through the Friday Night Lights program with WEEI.”

Legion Field is the home of Bridgewater Badgers Youth Football Association and in the off-season is used for soccer and lacrosse. The field was chosen from a random grand prize drawing of over 30 communities across New England that entered the Friday Night Lights contest last autumn. Towns pre-qualified for the drawing by having community members vote for them online, and Bridgewater residents were among those to show their support in droves.
