ATS was founded by Denny Eichberg, who retired in 2014 and launched the company 46 years ago as a specialty electrical distributor and manufacturers’ representative in the Southwest representing Raychem, Chemelex and Erico. He built a strong foundation, traveling weeks at a time to the Rocky Mountain States calling on copper mines, utilities, the Nevada Test Site and the industrial electrical market. Eichberg was involved in the introduction of Chemelex (Raychem) electrical heat tracing cable in the Rocky Mountain territory, which was the newest electrical technology at that time. Many of the SRP and APS power plants and copper mines built in the 1970s included the installation of Chemelex’s original cable due to his efforts, and successfully protected these plant’s water lines from freezing for decades. He also introduced Erico (Cadweld) and Raychem (TEConnectivity) in the early 1970s, which continue to be strong lines that ATS continues to stock and support to this day. Additional product lines were added, and today include Burndy, Penn Union, Hastings, Elastimold and 3M.
Eichberg and the ATS team built on that foundation over the years and today the company is a specialty master distributor of medium-high voltage cable accessories, heat tracing systems, grounding equipment and supplies, and personnel protection equipment (PPE). Jeanette Compton joined the ATS team in 1984, and she continues to be a vital part of the day-to-day operations. Paul Evans later joined ATS in December of 1997. They have been managing the business since Denny’s retirement in 2014.
