WESCO acquires KVA Supply

Dec. 1, 2003
WESCO International Inc., Pittsburgh, acquired the assets and business of KVA Supply Co., a utility products distributor located in Denver, and KVA Supply

WESCO International Inc., Pittsburgh, acquired the assets and business of KVA Supply Co., a utility products distributor located in Denver, and KVA Supply Co. Southwest, which has two locations in southern California.

KVA, with sales of $30 million, specializes in the underground high-voltage utility industry.

WESCO will benefit from KVA's ability to provide package solutions for the growing underground high-voltage infrastructure market, said Don Thimjon, vice president of WESCO's Utility Group.

The two markets that KVA Supply services are growing rapidly, and the swelling population in these metropolitan areas is demanding more electrical power.

"Both the Denver area and the whole state of California (are) growing very fast. And that ties into building homes and providing services that support people," said Thimjon.

KVA will continue to represent its 120 suppliers and remain under the same management, although Harry Felber, the previous owner, is not continuing with the company. Thimjon said no major expansions or new appointments are planned.
