After celebrating his 87th birthday last week, Jim Zimmerman, the former owner of Buckles-Smith Electric Co., San Jose, Calif., passed away on July 22 at his home in Pleasanton with his family by his side. Jim led a successful career at Buckles-Smith Electric Co. becoming an owner in 1959 and helping to lead the organization through many of its early transformations as the Santa Clara Valley evolved into the Silicon Valley. Jim was a genuine person who cared deeply about Buckles-Smith and its people and maintained a friendly presence around the company well after his retirement. Jim is survived by his wife Pauline, daughter Janice, and son Ron – Materials Manager at Buckles-Smith. Jim contributed significantly to the family culture Buckles-Smith has today and will be missed deeply by those who knew him.
