South Korea’s SK Hynix Announces Plans to Build $4-Billion Chip Plant Near Purdue University

The Wall Street Journal said the facility would generate from 800 to 1,000 jobs.

South Korean semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix plans to invest approximately $4 billion to establish an advanced chip-packaging facility in West Lafayette, IN, according to a Yahoo News report. The facility would be located near Purdue University, which offers semiconductor and microelectronics-engineering programs. The Wall Street Journal said the facility would generate from 800 to 1,000 jobs.

There’s also a plan on the drawing boards at Purdue where Skywater Technology, the state of Indiana and Purdue University would jointly develop a $1.8-billion-dollar semiconductor factory in Purdue’s Discovery Park District
