Morning drizzle didn't dampen the goal of the NEMRA Oregon Chapter Golf Tournament, held this summer in Beaverton, Ore. The rain subsided long enough for 120 golfers and a handful of electrical-industry volunteers to play 18 holes and finish most of the catered dinner. The seventh annual tournament raised $7,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the MDA's Wheel to Walk Foundation and For the Kids Cooperative Learning Center. The money will be used to provide financial aid to kids who want to attend the MDA Summer Camp, help Wheel to Walk perform MDA Camp improvements and assist the Learning Center in purchasing touch screens for autistic children.

The tournament also provided an opportunity for Oregon's electrical industry to share in a day of fun. Some of the tournament's sponsors included Platt Electric Supply, Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Crescent Electric Supply, Eoff Electric Co., Graybar Electric Co., M.H. Gerrard, North Coast Electric, Rexel/Taylor Electric Supply, WESCO Distribution and Western States Electric. Other financial contributors included Cascade Western Representatives, Ewing-Foley, FCI/Burndy, Frahler Electric Co., Hoyt Northwest, Keraden Sales, Lightolier, Pro Lines, Robert A. Amey Co., Shaffer & Nelson and Square D.
