Chalfant Endorses NEMRA POS Initiative

Feb. 27, 2020
To date, more than 60 electrical manufacturers and distributors have endorsed NEMRA's POS effort.

Support for NEMRA’s POS Minimum Reporting Standards continues to grows as Chalfant Manufacturing, a cable tray and cable management systems vendor, is the latest manufacturer to support the minimum information needs necessary to ensure its independent manufacturers’ representatives are appropriately compensated.

Said Chuck Labow, Chalfant’s VP of sales – North America, “Our reps are our connection to our distributors and ensuring that they are compensated based upon their efforts in their territory in supporting a distributor is important. We believe the NEMRA POS initiative can help us improve our processes, while being distributor friendly, and ensure that our reps are appropriately compensated.”

Jim Johnson, president of the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA), Portsmouth, NH, said in the release “We appreciate Chalfant’s endorsement of our standards and recognition that this is good for all. NEMRA’s goal is to simplify the reporting process for distributors and manufacturers while ensuring that sales agents receive appropriate compensation for their local efforts.”

To date over 60 manufacturers and distributors have endorsed the effort. The NEMRA release said that while not every distributor reports POS, those with regional distribution centers and central distribution centers understand that sharing POS information ensures local rep support and is the right thing to do. NEMRA encourages all distributors who sell into multiple rep territories consider adopting these minimum reporting standards. It can also help distributors streamline their reporting processes while providing customer anonymity.
