Alan Kranowitz, senior vice president-government relations at the National Association of Wholesalers (NAW), Washington, D.C., died June 3, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kranowitz spent the last 13 years with NAW in government relations. In his long and distinguished career, he served the Reagan White House as assistant to the president for legislative affairs, and as a senior aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, then House Republican Whip. Earl T. Summers, the founder of Summers Electric Co., Dallas, died June 2. He founded the company in 1944. Over the years, it grew to 45 branch locations and 850 employees. Summers Electric operates today as Rexel-Summers Electric. Summers is survived by his wife, Patricia; three sons, Tom, Steve and James; two daughters, Marianne Summers and Sharon Lee Summers Fulgham and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Siblings include John, Margaret Summers Stampes, Jerry Summers Robinson and Richard.
