In partnership with Luminosity Lighting Associates, The Smart Lighting Company and EOS recently created an impressive entryway effect at the historic Hotel Dupont in downtown Wilmington, DE, which has served as a symbol of luxury and decadence for more than a century.

Since 1908, the Dupont Building has been a place of opportunity while staying true to its historic, storied roots. As one of the first high-rise buildings in the city, the Dupont Headquarters was a 950,000-sq-ft mixed-use complex, and in 1913, part of the building was transformed into the Hotel Dupont. The building's new owners, The Buccini/Pollin Group, are thrilled to continue enhancing the hotel's legacy by reimagining the property. The renovations span from the ground floor to the 13th floor.

EOS provided LED panels that illuminated the overhang itself, while The Smart Lighting Company created the dramatic entryway effect at the Hotel Dupont by using several different high-powered architectural luminaires. Specifically, HB50B12 was aimed above the overhang with louvers utilizing 8° × 40° beam optics, HB40HP luminaires were used to shine and illuminate under the overhang with 15° optics, and finally, SB8 luminaires specified with 120° optics were attached at the wall inside the overhang to illuminate the building’s awning. The lighting was designed to help reignite the opportunity that this space embodies.
