In a deal that’s sure to make waves in the New England market, Granite City Electric Supply, Quincy, MA, recently concluded an asset acquisition of Baynes Electric Supply, West Bridgewater, MA, and Baynes & Jones Electric Supply.
The press release announcing the acquisition said, "The complementary combination of Baynes Electric and Granite City Electric locations creates a broader service network with greater inventory breadth, and delivery options for New England customers. The combined companies will provide more locations for customers throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island."
With the addition of the Baynes’ four locations in West Bridgewater, Vineyard Haven, Wareham and Nantucket, MA, Granite City Electric Supply Co., ranked #50 on Electrical Wholesaling’s 2020 Top 200 ranking, now has 30 locations throughout New England.
Phyllis Papani Godwin, Granite City Electric’s owner, said in the press release, “This transaction creates future opportunities for mutual growth, personally and professionally, in our combined efforts to serve all customers." Chris Baynes, president of Baynes Electric Supply, said in the release that he is looking forward to having the Baynes Electric team combine with the Granite City team to help grow the business throughout the six New England states. Baynes will remain with the company in a senior management role.
Baynes Electric, ranked #127 in EW’s Top 200, has served electrical contractors, institutions, national and retail lighting accounts in New England since 1956. The press release said Baynes Electric’s complementary business philosophies will enhance Granite City Electric’s strategic growth goals using GCE The Night Train Delivery System and delivering over 70% of all orders at night.
Granite City Electric Supply was founded in 1923. The company is the “Official Distributor of Electrical Supplies” to the Boston Red Sox.
