Over the past two years, more than 40 distributors of electrical supplies have been acquired.

In just four acquisitions — Platt Electric Supply, Independent Electric Supply (San Carlos, Calif.), One Source and Walters Wholesale Electric — an estimated $1.3 billion in sales changed hands. With at least 15 deals already this year, 2012 figures to be one of the most active acquisition years ever in the electrical market.
