Boise, ID: A Top Local Market to Watch in 2027

The Boise City, ID, MSA, has an estimated $628 million in electrical sales potential, up +4.4% from 2Q 2025.

The Boise metropolitan area continues to attract new residents in a big way and from 2020 to 2025 its population grew by 94,049 residents and now stands at 964.243. While Boise is a Top 25 single-family housing market when measured by single-family permits pulled year-to-date through June, it’s only up +1.3% YOY over that time period. The metro’s multi-family building permits declined by -37.5% YOY through June to 480 permits.

The big construction news in Boise continues to be the $15 billion Micron is investing in a number of facilities in the Boise area, including a second fab facility and a $10-billion research lab. Other big Boise projects: Meta’s $800-million-plus Kuna data center now underway; a $700-million airport expansion project; the $1-billion Gemstone Technology Park being developed by Diode Ventures; and the $1.1-billion St. Lukes Hospital project in downtown Boise, which includes a 850,000-sq-ft, nine-story hospital tower.
