After seven years of promoting the benefits of adding wind energy to the U.S. electricity mix, the Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition recently announced it will pair its advocacy work for wind with work for solar energy as well, according to this press release from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), Washington, D.C. The change is reflected in the group’s new name, the Governors’ Wind and Solar Energy Coalition (GWSC). Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is the Coalition’s chair; Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo is vice chair, and Washington Governor Jay Inslee wa the Coalition’s 2015 chairman.
